Generally speaking if the CPUs are in the same class/family then WPA may not be triggered however it is not unusual for an OEM version to be triggered just when detecting a different CPU alone whereas with a retail version going from a dual-core to a quad-core usually will trigger WPA. Regardless I've seen it happen in many cases, usually because of the CPU and the changing of the MAC Address of the Network Adapter by answering "I copied it" vs. "I moved it" when prompted. The bottom line is, if WPA is triggered then one has no choice but to comply! 
(That is assuming one is not illegally circumventing WPA.)
